 அமெரிக்காவின் தலைநகர் நியுயோக்கிற்கு தனது பரிவாரங்கள் சகிதம் சென்றுள்ள மகிந்த ராஜபக்ச எந்த ஒரு முஸ்லீம் பிரதிநியையும் கொண்டு செல்வில்லை என்று அறிய முடிகிறது. உலக வரலாற்றில் ஒரு சிறிய நாட்டில் இருந்து ஒரு பெரும் தொகை பிரிதிநிதிகள் அமெரிக்க அரச தலைவரை சந்திப்பது இதுவே முதல் தடவை. இந்த சந்திப்பில் அமெரிக்க அரச தலைவருக்கு தனது பக்கம் முஸ்லீம்கள் இல்லை என்பதை காட்டவும் முஸ்லீம்கள் ஒரு கொடிய இனம் என்பதையும் முஸ்லீம்களுக்கு எதிரான போராட்டத்திற்கு தனது அரசு ஆதரவு என்பதை காட்டவும் எந்த ஒரு முஸ்லீம் பிரதிநிதி அல்லது அரசியல்வாதிகளையும் மகிந்த அழைத்துச் செல்லவில்லை.
பல முஸ்லீம் அமைச்சர்களையும் சில தமிழ் அமைச்சர்களையும் தன்னகத்தில் வைத்திருக்கும் மகிந்த சிங்கள பரிவாரங்களுடன் முஸ்லீம்களை ஓரங்கட்டிகொண்டு அமெரிக்கா சென்றுள்ளமை முஸ்லிம் மக்களை தனது செயற்பாடுகள் மூலமாக ஒரு ஒட்டுண்ணிகளாக சித்திரிப்பதாக ஆய்வாளர் பலரும் சுட்டிக்காட்டியுள்ளனர்.
